Evil Invades Sanctuary, by Carl Chinn, is an excellent read for all sheepdogs. The book confirms the need for intentional safety and security in houses of worship and other faith-based organizations.
Though chapter 4 provides sound guidance on setting up a faith-based safety / security operation, Evil Invades Sanctuary is not a how-to church security book. It is the case for security in faith-based organizations. It tells the story of deadly force incidents in those environments in such a way to help others (especially law enforcement, civilian security operators and organizational leadership) understand what goes on inside such a scene. It also tells how less volatile issues have impacted those organizations.

Wolves Among The Sheep
I (Jimmy Meeks) met Dr. Craig Isaacs at the Denver Sheepdog Seminar. This is a remarkable man who has some great things to say. He's also a blast to be around! From the gunning down of a pastor to domestic violence; from rampage shootings at a youth meeting to dealing with the belligerent drug addict; from child molesters to the cutting of the throat of the founder of the Taize Community during a worship service; violence has already breached the walls of our churches. This book presents a three-fold scheme of protection from violence as it explores the spiritual, the psychological, and the physical spheres of protection educating the reader on what to look out for and giving practical insights into how to intervene before violence occurs. Charl van Wyk was just an ordinary Christian man until July 25, 1993 - the day that would become known for the St. James Massacre. It was on this date that Van Wyk shot back at the terrorists who were attacking an innocent congregation gathered in worship, and saved many lives in the process. Watch the video, an interview with Charl.
